I recomend checking out a Chamber in your area if they are as involved as the Kazzochamber JOIN!   lol

PARENTS PRESERVE MEMORIES IN LUE OF HARD TIMES FOR 2010 GRADUATES

It’s about to happen across the state. Graduation time is near, excitement, high hopes and yes looking forward to the future in spite or the gloomy economics. Parents and students have the same dreams as those of previous years. This should be that moment in time to be celebrated; remembered and rewarded it’s a time of tradition a right of passage moving from childhood into the adult world. As part of that transition parents of high school seniors in schools large and small across Michigan come together to organize a great send off in safe alcohol free celebrations for their graduates. With names like Grad Bash! Senior Celebration! Senior All Night Party! You can bet this is no small event or small undertaking. Done in a variety of ways from renting hall, YMCA’s and campus field houses to transforming the schools them self into one big dreamland decorated from floor to ceiling hallway after hallway I would mention more of their creative ideas but the events theme and location are kept a secrete to add to the excitement. It takes a committed group that starts planning the how, what and where of these events even before the school year begin. And the HOW are we going to raise funds has been a bit harder for obvious reasons this year yet they preserver and through inventive thinking a lot of self sacrificing putting together tail gate parties, father daughter dances, poker games, carnivals, raffles, 50/50s car washes, cakes, cookie, flower and sub sales recruiting local companies and stores to invest in their future customers. They are our future too. Let’s encourage these young people the graduates of 2009

help them celebrate this big event in their life by supporting the local Graduation Celebration.

Call your hometown high school to what you can contribute.

Green screen photography is always fun! And photographs make the perfect keepsake party favor (especially if they?re in them). To the question how dose this event go?

Here?s how green screen event photography works:

? A green screen background (a neon color green or intence  blue) the same that are use in the movies or TV for special FX, is used for your photo shoot

? Attendess have fun posing in front of the background even more fun, supply hats and props to add to the fantasy effect.

? Like magic, Thier digital images are superimposed on to the photos. Now add your company logo or incorporate that new product right into the scene and voila!  Guests can now be in LA or underwater or center stage performing like a rock star. By Lisa Mackinder | M&C

lmackinder@mibiz.comWEST MICHIGAN - Lack of proper sound and stage elements can set the death knell tolling at corporate meetings and events.

"Audiois one critical way to get one's message across at an event," saidFrank Werner, president of On Stage Services in Grand Rapids.

OnStage Services is a full-service rental, production and repair company. For production, it offers premium-level musical instruments andequipment, staging, audio, video, lighting and production management. The company oversees many corporate events and has several casinoaccounts, which includes the recent performance of Kellie Pickler atOdawa Casino in Petoskey.

Accordingto Werner, sound and stage help set the mood of an event. As anexample, he said to imagine walking into a banquet room with whitewalls and a podium sitting on an empty stage. To set a good tone, hebelieves it takes having "the stage set and audio support that supportsthe room properly."

Probablyeveryone has been at an event where the sound hasn't been up to snuff.According to Werner, sometimes people get a system donated or obtain itat a low cost.

"Anadvantage of renting from us is that everything is maintainedprofessionally," he said, noting everything gets checked before it goesout.

OnStage Services rents "across the board" – to professionals and novices. With audio greenhorns in mind, in April, the company launched SpeakerOn A Stick.

"It was designed for cost-effective, do-it-yourself instant audio," said Werner.

SpeakerOn A Stick works well for meetings and negates the need for bringing inan AV company. He said for small events, it takes just one small stickand an iPod or MP3 player to have an instant DJ. For as little as $100,Speaker On A Stick can cover an event of 20-200 people.

"There'sbeen high demand," said Werner, who identified wedding planners, smallbusinesses and DJ's as displaying great interest.

Theeconomy spurred creation of Speaker On A Stick, according to Werner, who called it a "cost effective alternative" because labor gets takenout of the equation. On Stage Services serves North America, havingperformed work in Canada and almost all of the states. Right now,Speaker On A Stick has to be picked up in Grand Rapids. If it gainspopularity, Werner sees potential franchise opportunities.

To Curt Wiser, president of Wiser Productions in Portage, the "devil is in the details," when it comes to sound and stage.

"Each building, room and facility has different attributes," Wiser told M&C, saying understanding of placement, stage size and an event's goal must come into consideration.

Asa full-service talent agency, Wiser Productions provides live bands, disc jockeys, comedians, vocalists and any other entertainment a clientmight need for an event. The company does a lot of corporate events, such as those at Stryker Corp. with hundreds of attendees. Its workalso includes a majority of the festivals and events held at ArcadiaCreek Festival Place in downtown Kalamazoo. Wiser Productions coversthe western half of Michigan.

Wiseroffered some suggestions about sound and stage selection. For one, heemphasized the importance of not putting the cart before the horse.

"Find out what it is that you need and then price it out," Wiser said, noting that many people get these elements turned around.

Using the purchase of a specific new car as an example, he said one doesn'tdecide what the price of that car will be and then go out and tell thedealers. A buyer has to shop around.

Additionally,Wiser noted the importance of having a knowledgeable companyrepresentative organizing sound and stage for an event.

"Have someone in place that knows the difference between the Rat Pack and James Bond," he said, explaining this will put AV experts on the right track and give the company the music and event they are seeking.

These days, a host of unique, fun entertainment exists for corporate events.Big Lyle's Party & Event Entertainment in Otsego offers U-RockVideos, Vintage Visions Photos, and a mobile recording booth, among other entertainment options. The company goes anywhere east of theRocky Mountains.

AnnWebster, Big Lyle's Party & Event Entertainment owner and marketer, believes having fun entertainment such as this gets clients and guestsinvolved. She described participation in the videos, for example, asliberating.

"You're no longer you," said Webster, saying it's

Accordingto Webster, facilitators use the videos as a team building experience.Employees have to pick out costumes, music and practice steps. Beforestepping onto the green screen, they decide who will be the leadsinger, back-up singers and what the background will look like. BigLyle's utilizes Chroma-key technology to add background and specialeffects, producing a TV-style music video.

"We are always updating costumes, always looking for different graphics and backgrounds," said Webster.

Although videos are always popular, green-screen photos represent another popular choice.

"We have a selection of all kinds of digital backgrounds," said Webster. M&C

Pix Fix Posted by Shira Savada, Real Weddings Editor

Ihave a friend who always takes tons of great photos whenever there’s afun occasion, be it a birthday celebration, road trip, or night on thetown. The only problem is it takes her a while to get the images to meand anyone else in said photos. She’s busy, and I get it—I still loveher. But I’m also impatient, so, naturally, I want to get my hands onthem pronto so I can flip through them over and over again, order someprints, or add them to an online album.

So imagine if you’vegot a lot of friends like this at your wedding, or you’re justimpatient like me, and want to be able to relive your wedding beforeyou even board the plane for your honeymoon.

What’s a girl to do? Simple. Rent a Canditto. This lovely device corrals all of the digital photos your guests take(it’s set up to only grab images from within the last 8 hours) and putsthem all on a little thumb drive. You can rent it for a week, so you’llget all the photos from any of the events you’re planning before andafter your wedding, too.

The new model just came out earlier thismonth. It costs $450 to rent and it includes shipping. It arrives on aTuesday, and you have until the following Wednesday to send it back. You just pop your camera’s memory card in and wait for the light tochange from red to green. No buttons, no switches. It even comes with alittle how-to so your DJ can announce how to use it on the spot. Or you can post a link about it on your wedding website so your guests know about it before the big event.

Aslong as you place it somewhere highly trafficked and your guests knowhow it works, you should end up leaving your wedding with an additionalgift—instant gratification!

Once again we had the privilege to entertain the athletes and their family, coaches, chaperons and student volunteers in Travers City MI for the Special Olympics  Michigan Winter Games. We are always inspired my their willingness to never give up and to do their best. This being our third year involved with entertainment I knew what to expect A REALLY BIG GROWD!!

Last year with the theme being Pirate we brought in the Vintage Visions. This years Theme 50's Grease was a huge hit and Far- Out Photos was the thing to do. With every one getting into the spirit ,I never saw so many poodle skirt, and cuffed jeans in one place. I look forward to hanging with them in 2010.
